Portuguese Immigrant Week in California
The California Portuguese-American Coalition invites everyone to commemorate Portuguese Immigrant Week in California. Governor Ronald Reagan first declared the week.
This is a week to commemorate what the community is and our continuous relationship with Portugal and the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira. The California Portuguese-American Coalition is happy to partner in this unique event with two poets from Portugal (one from the mainland, one from the Azores) as we bring our culture to the forefront of this week. Portuguese culture is known for its literature and, in particular, its poetry, one of the main reasons that Portugal Day is the Day of a Poet-Luís Vaz de Camões.
