Our mission statement is one of inclusiveness. Therefore, we condemn all acts of racial inequality.
The California Portuguese-American Collation (CPAC) acknowledges the deep trying times that we are facing as a state and as a country. Our mission statement is one of inclusiveness. Therefore, we condemn all acts of racial inequality.
The California Portuguese-American Coalition strives to be a voice for our community in our diverse and multicultural state. As a community, we have integrated and have taken part in the American Dream and cannot be silent when it comes to significant issues that shape our society, for as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
We stand with our African-American brothers and sisters who have been victims of racial inequality throughout the nation and in our own state. Racial justice is an issue that crosses political parties and affects all of us. We cannot succumb to generalizations and to silence.
The California Portuguese-American Coalition (CPAC) calls for a conversation leading to an effective paradigm shift on these and other issues affecting our African-American brothers and sisters and many other minority groups, including our own.
The California Portuguese-American Coalition (CPAC) will commence a series of virtual forums to address these pertinent issues within our community throughout California. We cannot be complacent, and we must address issues of race and discrimination within our own community.
We cannot change the past, but we certainly can shape the future. Racial equality is within our reach.
